Prerequisites
Before you jump in, there are a couple of things to keep in mind to ensure a smooth setup:
- PHP Version: BerqWP requires your WordPress site to be running on PHP version 7.4 or above. Most modern hosting providers already meet this, but it’s a good idea to double-check.
- Single Caching Service: This is important! BerqWP should be the only front-end caching service active on your website. If you have other speed optimization plugins (like WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, etc.) or if your hosting provider has caching enabled at the server level, you’ll need to deactivate or disable them first. This prevents conflicts that could mess up your site or performance.
Installation Process
Installing the BerqWP plugin is just like installing any other WordPress plugin:
- Log into your WordPress Dashboard: This is your usual entry point for managing your website.
- Deactivate Existing Speed Plugins: Before installing BerqWP, go to “Plugins” > “Installed Plugins” and deactivate any other speed optimization or caching plugins you might have running. If your host has server-side caching, you might need to contact their support to disable it.
- Add New Plugin: From your dashboard, navigate to “Plugins” and click on “Add New.”
- Search for BerqWP: In the search bar on the right side, type “BerqWP.”
- Install and Activate: You’ll see the BerqWP plugin appear. Click on the “Install Now” button. After a few seconds, it will change to an “Activate” button. Click “Activate.”
License Key Activation and Initial Setup
Once the plugin is activated, you’ll need to link it to your BerqWP account:

- Copy Your License Key: You’ll find your unique license key in your BerqWP account area. Copy it.
- Go to BerqWP Admin Page: In your WordPress dashboard, you’ll now see a “BerqWP” option in your left-hand menu. Click on it to go to the BerqWP admin page.
- Paste and Activate: On this page, there will be a section for your license key. Paste your copied key there and click the “Activate” button.
- Choose Optimization Mode: BerqWP will usually start with a “Medium” optimization mode by default, which is a good balance. However, to get the best possible PageSpeed scores, BerqWP recommends switching to “Aggressive” mode. You can do this by dragging a slider or selecting the option and then saving your changes. If you notice any issues with your website breaking after switching to “Aggressive,” simply revert to “Blaze” or “Medium” mode.
Testing Your Optimizations
BerqWP offers a handy Sandbox Mode for testing, which is a fantastic feature.
- Activate Sandbox Mode: Use this mode to test BerqWP’s optimizations without affecting your actual website visitors.
- Test in Incognito: Always test your pages in an incognito window. This ensures you’re seeing the truly cached and optimized version, not a version that your browser might have previously cached.
- Monitor Cache Warmup: It might take about 5 minutes for caching to begin, and you can monitor the increase in cached pages from your BerqWP dashboard. If the cache warmup doesn’t start on its own, visiting the pages you want to cache in an incognito window can prompt the Photon Engine to start creating the cache.
The whole process is designed to be quick and simple, allowing you to see noticeable performance improvements without deep technical knowledge. BerqWP vs. Competitors
